When a vendor marks a product end-of-life, they stop selling it. When they mark it end-of-service-life, they stop selling support. A lot of that hardware is still in the rack. Search the models we cover — and include the serial if a line is missing.

Manufacturers

Families marked EOSL are generations the manufacturer has already stopped supporting. “EOSL and current” means that family still mixes both. We quote coverage from the serial rather than from a date on this page.

Lifecycle

What EOL and EOSL actually mean.

01

General availability

The manufacturer is still selling the product and a new warranty. You can still run independent support alongside it if you want one contract for the whole room.

02

End of life (EOL)

New orders for that model stop. The hardware in the rack is unchanged. Warranty and paid support usually continue for a while.

03

End of service life (EOSL)

The manufacturer will no longer renew a support contract. The hardware itself has not suddenly failed — they have just stopped selling maintenance on that generation.

04

Independent support

We still quote coverage from the serial — parts, a local engineer, and the service level you pick. Current, post-warranty, EOL, and EOSL hardware can sit on the same contract.

What EOL and EOSL actually are

End-of-life (EOL) is when the manufacturer stops taking new orders for a model. End-of-service-life (EOSL), sometimes called end of support, is when they will not take a maintenance renewal either. The hardware in the rack does not change on either date.

Plenty of production still runs on EOSL equipment — PowerEdge 12th–14th gen, ProLiant Gen8/Gen9, 3PAR 7000/8000, FAS 22xx/32xx, DS8000, and A100 GPU nodes. The applications are often still certified to those generations, even if the manufacturer would rather sell you something new.

Why the manufacturer pushes a refresh

Once a product is EOSL, manufacturer support is usually priced so a refresh looks cheaper. That is about the product cycle, not about whether the array or server still works.

If the system still holds the data and we can still get parts, independent support is usually the simpler path — and the one that does not force a project you were not planning.

What we still cover after EOSL

We source the part — controllers, disks, power supplies, GPU trays, NVSwitch, supervisors — and send a local engineer. Service levels match current-generation coverage, so you can run 2-hour onsite on a production VSP and next-business-day on a lab Unity that is also EOSL.

The library lists models we see in rooms today. If yours is not there, include the serial with the quote request. EOSL coverage is a normal request for us, not a special case.

Product families

Product families the manufacturer has already left.

Each family page lists the generations we still quote after the manufacturer ends support. If a model is not named, include the serial with the quote request.

By manufacturer

EOL and EOSL support by manufacturer.

Each manufacturer page covers hardware past vendor support. The full model list is on the hardware page. If a brand is not listed, include the serial — we still quote it.

FAQ

Questions about EOL and EOSL

Why don't you list the manufacturer's end-of-support date for each model?

Those dates change, and they often differ by model, region, or contract. We would rather not post a date that might be wrong by the time you read it. Families marked EOSL are ones the manufacturer has already stopped supporting. If you send us a serial number, we will tell you where that unit sits and quote from there.

If a model is not in the library, does that mean you will not cover it?

No. The library is what we publish so you can search it — not a ceiling on what we cover. If a brand or generation is missing, include the serial with the quote request and we will tell you whether we can source the part.

Is EOSL hardware unsafe to keep in production?

Not by itself. Older hardware needs parts nearby and a plan for when something fails; it does not automatically mean the system is a risk. We stock certified parts and write the service level to the workload. A lot of teams keep EOSL equipment because the application is still certified to that generation.

Can you get parts the manufacturer no longer sells?

Yes. We work through an independent parts network, so we are not limited to what the manufacturer still lists. Lead times go on the quote, and if a part is truly gone we will tell you before you sign.

Does EOSL coverage include firmware?

Hardware replacement is always included. If you still have a firmware license, we can apply updates where the quote says so. We cannot restore a vendor entitlement that has already expired.

Same-day quote

Request EOSL coverage

Serials, an export, or a photo of the rack is enough to start. We return a scoped quote the same business day, including hardware the manufacturer no longer lists.

About two minutes. Your answers stay in this browser until you send the request.

Hardware Maintenance Quote

Select every type this quote should cover.

Keep the hardware that still runs production.

End-of-life and end-of-service-life dates are the manufacturer’s calendar, not a requirement to refresh. Request a quote and we will tell you what we can still cover.
