AIX system administration and support
IBM AIX

AIX support and administration, on the first call.

If your AIX person has left, or the team is too thin to cover nights, we can take the systems. Send the LPAR list and we will quote a new support and administration agreement the same business day.

  • Independent since 2004
  • Same-day quote
  • AIX 5.3 through 7.3
  • 24×7 or business hours

AIX

How a new client starts

Three steps, then someone owns the AIX.

  1. 01

    Send what you have.

The AIX version, about how many LPARs, the city, and whether production has to be covered overnight. A spreadsheet is fine.

  2. 02

We price it the same day.

A person reads the list and calls you back the same business day with support and administration on one quote.

  3. 03

    An engineer takes the systems.

If the quote works, that engineer handles the daily work and the call when a host is down.

What we take on

Support when it breaks, and administration the rest of the week.

Plenty of these systems still run payroll, manufacturing, and the close. Some of them are on releases IBM stopped covering years ago. We support and administer those, and current 7.2 and 7.3, one LPAR at a time.

01

The ordinary Tuesday stuff.

Users, filesystems, errpt, and the performance question that shows up after a long weekend. We make the change on a window you pick.

02

The layer under the application.

A new LPAR, a move, a dual VIO pair, or the NIM server nobody has logged into since the last administrator left.

03

The PTFs you are behind on.

We write what should go on, which host has to wait, and how to back out if the window goes badly.

04

Releases IBM walked away from.

AIX 5.3, 6.1, and 7.1 are still on the quote. So are 7.2 and 7.3. If yours is missing from that list, send it and we will tell you.

05

One number when a host is down.

Call 1-855-NETRAID. The person who answers can work the problem, not just take a message for later.

06

A quote you can actually use.

Tell us the version, about how many LPARs, and where they sit. Attach the spreadsheet if the list is long. We answer the same business day.

Versions we already know

  • AIX 5.3
  • AIX 6.1
  • AIX 7.1
  • AIX 7.2
  • AIX 7.3

This quote is for support and administration. If a part fails in the Power frame, we can price the hardware later. You do not have to sort that out before you send the list.

From a customer

A few things people ask

Questions we hear before the quote goes out

Can you run the system day to day, or only help when it breaks?

We do both. The same engineers handle the daily work, the change window, and the call when a host is down. Production can stay covered overnight while everything else stays on business hours.

Do you still work on AIX 5.3 and 6.1?

Yes. A lot of what we see is 5.3, 6.1, or 7.1, and we cover 7.2 and 7.3 as well. If your release is not on that list, send it anyway.

Does this quote include repairing the IBM server?

This quote is for the operating system. If a part fails in the Power frame, we can quote the hardware separately, with a local engineer.

When will somebody call me back?

The same business day. If a system is down right now, skip the form and call 1-855-NETRAID.

We are not a client yet. Can you still take this on?

Yes. This is how a new AIX client starts. Send the list, we quote support and administration, and if the price works we put an engineer on the systems.
