AIX Support.

AIX 5.3 through 7.3. NIM, VIOS, LPARs, and PTFs — including releases IBM no longer covers. An engineer who already knows AIX on the first call.

AIX

What We Cover.

AIX still runs payroll, manufacturing, and the systems that close the books. Many of those hosts are on 5.3, 6.1, or 7.1 — releases IBM will only discuss if you buy a refresh. NETRAID covers those versions, and current 7.2 and 7.3, as phone and remote OS support scoped per LPAR.

The first call reaches someone who has worked AIX for years — NIM, VIOS, WPAR, and the PTF that should have gone on last quarter. We do not open a vendor ticket and wait.

Versions

  • AIX 5.3
  • AIX 6.1
  • AIX 7.1
  • AIX 7.2
  • AIX 7.3

If a release is not listed, send it. We still quote it.

01

NIM, VIOS, and LPARs

Boot from NIM, rebuild a VIO server, move an LPAR. The work under the application — not a scripted reboot.

02

PTF and change windows

Guidance for the stream you are behind on, written exceptions for the host that cannot reboot this month, and a rollback plan.

03

AIX past vendor EOSL

5.3 and 6.1 stay in scope. Current 7.x is in scope too. Mix 24×7 on production with business hours on the rest.

FAQ

Questions about AIX.

Do you support AIX 5.3 and 6.1?

Yes. That is a large share of the work. 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3 are in scope as well.

Is this IBM Software Maintenance?

No. This is independent OS support — engineers who already know AIX. Hardware break/fix for IBM servers is a separate contract if you want it.

Can you help with NIM or VIOS?

Yes. Rebuilds, dual-VIO, and the NIM environment that has not been touched since the last admin left are in scope.
